Fortune’s Formula

Started reading a great book that I got from the public library: Fortune’s Formula by William Poundstone. A great story of how mathematics and some of the greatest thinkers of all time got involved with gambling and eventually the stock market. Part of

Trying the Other Search Engines

I have decided not to use Google as my default search engine anymore. I am trying alternatives such as Clusty and Ask. I wish that I could use MSN Search more often, but the results are still not where I want them Oh well. I think I have become too reliant

Blockbuster Game Pass Rocks!

I love the Game Pass from Blockbuster. I took Tomb Raider: Legends back yesterday and picked up Quake 4. I figured I could always rent Tomb Raider again and I was in the mood for a nice straight forward action game. Quake 4 certainly does deliver action.

Stuck in Tomb Raider: Legends

Been playing Tomb Raider: Legends, but am not stuck on the boss of the King Arthur chapter. Got the hints for dealing with the Leviathan from the net, but still can’t seem to pull it off. Will put it aside for a little bit and come back to it. Tried to

Tomb Raider: Legends

Played the Tomb Raider: Legends on XBox Live yesterday and thought it was awesome, so I decided to go ahead and rent the game today. I decided to go with the Blockbuster Game Pass. That means that I can have one game out a time for as long as I want.

Oblivion, Again

Went ahead and added an Oblivion category to the blog so that I can categorize the posts related to the game. Oblivion has over 200 hours of game play, so I figure at a rate of 1 to 3 hours of game play a day, I have another 100 days of play left and

Need a Pack Mule

I really need a pack mule in Oblivion. Several times yesterday while playing Oblivion, I got too much swag and had to make several trips to sell the excess and come back. I guess I need to get my strength up so that I can carry more, but for the first

Got It, I Think

I am now 99% certain that it was the remaining 256 MB memory stick that was causing the problems. I had the other 256 MB stick go bad on me 6 months or so ago. I used that occasion as an excuse to get a 1 Gig stick, so right now I just have 1 Gig in the

Dammit

My personal laptop is acting up. I think it is a problem with one of the memory sticks, but I can't be sure. It is an intermittent issue. I have the laptop working now, but I am wary of it. I love that machine and I can't be without it!!!

Gotta Work At It

I am trying to get some serious time on Oblivion for the next couple of weeks or so. My son will be coming for the summer and I introduced him to the game last weekend when he was here. I didn't think he would like it because he really gets into the shooting/action

Pulled the Trigger

Well, I went ahead and did it and I happy with the result. Yesterday, I went to Best Buy and bought the Insignia™ 27" Flat-Tube HDTV. It is perfect for what I need right now. It does 480p perfectly and fits exactly in my TV stand and it was only $380!

It's Better

Well, the power was out this morning, so having not much else to do, I decided to look on the back of my DVD Surround Sound player to see what kind of connectors there were. I guess as I put the system back together I must have reseated the connectors

Damien Katz has a great post that details the Signs You're a Crappy Programmer (and don't know it). I know I have been guilty of some of these over my career, but growth is recognizing a weakness and overcoming it.
